Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, personality disorders, self harm, or another trauma-related issue, I am here to provide you with a safe, confidential, friendly environment where you can explore your issues without fear of judgement. I have nearly 40 years of experience in working with clients and provide a personalised form of counselling and psychotherapy in Woking, Borough, and online. Trauma

I have extensive experience in working with trauma – both one-off events and trauma originating in childhood. It leads to a certain way of seeing yourself, other people, and the wider world. Trauma prevents you from experiencing a full range of emotions and shows up in how you think and behave, leading to all kinds of challenging emotions and maladaptive behaviours. Using the techniques outlined in my My Approach page, we will engage with these traumas, build a clearer picture of their role in your life, and develop tools that help you manage it better going forward.

Anxiety and Stress

We all experience stress in our lives, from early childhood to the present moment, and we tend to store that stress in our body, which over time creates anxiety. You might feel frequently overwhelmed and ‘catastrophise’ over certain issues, living in the same worst-case scenario thought patterns all the time. Naturally this creates a sense of discomfort in your mind and body, and our work will involve identifying the root causes of your anxiety and providing techniques to help you manage these feelings when they arise in your daily life.

Depression

I understand that depression affects many people in different ways, and I know it feels hard to imagine reaching a better place, but I am here to help you manage living in this difficult place. In a way that is comfortable for you, we will talk through the challenging emotions you face – the ones that were pushed down over time and culminated in depression – and observe your thoughts in a more compassionate, curious way, ultimately working towards changing them for the better.

Relationship issues

I give you a safe, non-judgemental place to address difficulties in your relationship. We will create a space where you can increase your understanding of each other, improve communication, and feel more connected in your relationship. I also offer parenting coaching and work with individuals who are running into the same issues when it comes to relationships with others.

Eating Disorders

I understand that many people hide painful feelings behind eating disorders. Conditions like bulimia and anorexia are essentially forms of self-protection from difficult emotions, which is why my work with eating disorders will always focus on giving you a confidential, judgement-free place to explore your pain and develop healthier coping mechanisms for dealing with pain.

Self-Harm

My practice provides you with a private, non-judgemental space to explore the reasons behind your self-harm in a compassionate way. Together we will walk through the emotions associated with your self-harm and work to build a clearer understanding of what brings you to that place, ahead of creating a therapeutic plan that is personalised to you.
